You can probably tell from the podcast that NFL football is not the sport I follow. Go ahead and tease me, I get last names wrong too. So when I say I don’t know anything about Darren Fells, I don’t have a clue.
Well, that changed a couple of weeks ago.
On Finding Tight Ends
Finding a good tight end for your team is like spotting a bald eagle in your backyard. Well, probably not a good example because I just took a picture of one from our kitchen recently.

Well, you get the idea. But I did happen to notice this TE from the Houston Texans named Darren Fells. Who is this guy? Why is he available when he’s on a good team? Is he first on the TE depth chart?
I learned that he’s had a few decent games, good enough to make him a Top 10 TE. So, I grabbed him. Not only that, he scored 7.1 points thanks to a touchdown the week I started him. Take that Eric Ebron.
It’s not how you get here, it’s what you do when you get here.

The Darren Fells Story
But there’s more to the story. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be wasting precious space on this insanely popular fantasy football blog.
Here’s what I’ve since learned about this guy:
- He was undrafted.
- His first love is basketball.
- He played basketball in college.
- He played overseas for five years in the sport.
- He hates failure.
- There were 9 years between his high school football days and the NFL playing field.
- He’s humble.
Whether he stays on my team or not, I’ll always be rooting for Darren Fells. He’s a class act all the way.
